दो महीने से अस्पताल में भर्ती तत्कालीन मुख्यमंत्री जयललिता का पांच दिसंबर 2016 को चेन्नई के अपोलो अस्पताल में निधन हो गया था। इसके बाद मेडिकल बुलेटिन में उनकी मौत की वजह को दिल का दौरा पड़ना बताया गया था।
